anyone know if emeralds spawn in any of the extra biomes or is the spawn of them still only in extreme hills/edge?

I was lucky enough to find an extreme hills with Extra Biomes installed. They're still there! :p I'm pretty sure Scott made it so some of his biomes also spawned them in.

I don't know if this would work (don't see why it wouldn't, I just haven't tried my self), but depending on the pack you are using, you could generate a mystcraft age that has a single biome of Extreme Hills, as long as emerald ore generates in mystcraft ages then this should make finding them easier.

They do appear in extra biomes, because i found them in autumn woods biome (and after i found them there manually, my quarry found much more there :p), but i dont know in what other extra biomes they are in.

Emerald... spawns?

Always seemed more rare than Iridium. I mean, you could always get one from a villager for 20 bookshelves, but you know.. You'd need leather for that. :'c

I've never managed to dig up emeralds personally, but I often find villages, and they often want to buy things from me. Often things they have around town but don't want to get themselves, such as wheat or raw chicken, or occasionally paper and chicken nuggets.

That being said, I'm still a Thaumaturge, and still Cook Up My Own Emeralds when I need them.

Well, with MFR you can automate fishing, so try to find a farmer who has wheat, cooked fish or wool as a last trade and just trade him this 3 products how many times you want (trade limits resets after you make at least one transaction with last item, new trade will also appear if it is available).

This works to a point. You can deplete a villager's willingness to buy from you by selling too much at once. I would suggest making a MFR Autospawner(if it's in the version of MFR in Ultimate or you don't mind updating) and craping out villagers until you get one who buys a small amount of something easy to get. I knew a guy who once had a librarian who was buying paper, 1 per emerald. I cried a little inside from how many more emeralds they had then me. But I rejoiced in the fact that that kind of villager was nigh impossible to find, and laughed about how long they would have had to have searched for such a villager.
I occasionally found Thaumaturge Villagers buying chicken nuggets, 1 per emerald. Not as often these days, but still, lots of emeralds I did not have because I didn't know how to get meat nuggets then.

If you use last trade, all trades should reset after closing trade screen and new trade particle effect, so buy this overpriced flint at least once. I only wonder what to do with 30 flint and steel (last trade in my first emerald generator).
