So, I'm planning on creating a blaze farm in the overworld (using a portal gun to transport a spawner) and am wondering on how I can collect the experience. I know I can use brain-in-jars, but they are quite expensive to make (20 exanimis per jar, which isn't found in almost any items) so I was wondering if there was any other way to do this?

Two important things to note:
1) I need to able to then absorb the collected experience myself
2) Will blazes still drop experience if killed by water?

EDIT: I figured I might as well farm cows & chickens, but there are a few things I would need to ask about:
1) So I've read that I need a breeder and chronotyper to breed the cows then separate child from adult. If I just setup the breeder and chronotyper, is it possible that the cows to be bred run out?
2) Got any screenshots of a good setup?

Use the XP drain(might be called something else) from openblocks to collect the XP. Then you can pipe it into an openblocks tank, and whenever you right click the tank, you will gain experience. Blazes will not drop XP if killed by water.

Anythign will drop XP if killed by autonomous activators
Also XP drain is to get SP from players
Vacuum hoppers suck in both items and XP

I world say use mfr sewers to collect the xp that or just use grinders. They generate XP on a per kill basis

As for not having enough Exanimis for brains in jars... you can get it from zombie flesh and bones, to start. IIRC even zombie brains from brainy zombies if you don't mind the possible waste.(that is, can't make a brain in a jar with a brain you turned into magical slurry)

Pump it into an auto spawner to spawn mobs :b
And there are other machines that need mob essence, like the auto enchanter I think

My blaze spawner is set up as so:
9x9 room with autospawner, autonomous activators in the front with etheric swords and water source blocks in the back.

My automation of spawning and killing is done with a row of sticky pistons infront of the water sources, they are hooked up to a sequencer and RS latch from project red to raise and lower them every 30 seconds, this floods the room and kills them all.

Lastly I have 2 vacuum hoppers sucking up xp and drops, drops are sent to the AE network and xp to a railcraft tank where it will be converted into mob essence

I was gonna use water, but I tried and the blazes didn't drop experience or blaze rods when killed by water... I know in previous versions they have, but whatever reason, they aren't doing so now.

That got changed a while ago. You will need to actually use a block that kills them or kill them yourself. Autonomous Activators or turtles as others have suggested work fine
