As it stands i'm finding myself in need of an exp farm, mob drops would help as well but my primary concern is exp atm.

I know previously, there were soul gems to make your own spawners, anything simular or atleast good enough in the current market?

Using TPPI as a mod pack at the moment, though I believe its simular enough to monster.

Cursed earth can spawn lots of mobs if extra utilities is in your pack. You can rout mobs to Invar spikes for xp and drops

Cursed earth is good as mentioned above.

I just went and collected a bunch of vanilla mob spawners with Diamond Dollies, mainly because i'm grumpy and oldschool :p

Depending on how far in the game you are, spawner controllers from rotarycraft can blow away cursed earth if they are set up correctly (I don't know how, I've seen someone on a server spawn about 10 mobs/second)

Pretty sure I don't have rotarycraft in this mod pack. :( Though I do have extra utilities.

Invar? I think I only have iron spikes (unless its another name or something?) and it says iron spikes don't drop exp.

My bad, those are in monster. I believe turtles drop exp and mfr grinders give mob essence which can be drank with a straw for exp

An MFR autospawner is the easiest, most straightforward method other than doing it vanilla style. But since hostile mobs despawn when theres no player around, and animals take so long to grow into adults, it can be a chore waiting for the MFR grinder to make enough liquid mob essence to do much at all with. My solution was to use snowmen which do not despawn and its really cheap and easy to set up an automatic snowman maker for infinite mob essence.

I read somewhere theres a way to directly turn MFR essence into openblocks liquid XP using xp showers and drains but that seems cheaty to me. Instead I have a couple rooms for spawning mobs built in such a way that Im safe yet they get pushed towards me so I can kill them with my looting3 weapon. I just kill mobs for a minute or two when I need their drops and the XP is just a useful side effect that I store in an openblocks tank.

Well, the MFR autospawner would give me plenty of drops but then I have no form of exp coming in?

As for turning MFR essence into the liquid exp, I'd very much like to know how to do that, as using a straw can be quiet draining (heh)

Edit:
Also, know a good melee turtle script? I can't seem to find one that seems to work.

You can easily make a turtle infinitely attack whenever a mob is in front of them:
while true do
turtle.attack()
end

Tried a few codes I found like that, didn't work for some reason? Will double check and post the error code if it I get it again. Though I did hear something about lag unless you add a sleep timer in between attacks?

Autonomous activators count as a player entity, so using a sword in one will drop xp; also you can enchant the sword to kill faster/more drops

Since you're looking for primarily an XP farm, a few Essence Berry bushes with some sort of mechanic to speed growth will get you plenty of XP. Doesn't include mob drops, but since it can also be converted to mob essence with an MFR sewer and autonomous activators, you can spawn whatever mobs you want.
