All Essentia does is add allow you specify aspects for items that may not already have them. That's literally all. It doesn't add any new blocks, items, recipes, mobs, etc. The worst that can happen with this mod with regards to future versions of Thaumcraft are if Aspects are removed altogether - whereby this mod will become obsolete - or the list of aspects is changed - whereby new aspects wouldn't be supported and old, nonexistent ones may cause problems when used in a config. Although it should be impossible to use mis-matched versions of Thaumcraft and Essentia, since major changes in Thaumcraft (ie those that change the aspect list) happen with major updates to minecraft, and they shouldn't both be applicable to the same client. And in a worst-case scenario, the worst that would happen were you to remove Essentia would be that items that used to have certain aspects (specified in the Essentia config) no longer do.
Essentia seems almost tailor-made for modpacks.
I'm afraid I don't follow. How does the list of official aspects getting shortened make a mod that allows you to specify aspects to those without them already specified useless?
Azanor thinks the same way. The only reason that certain items from other mods do have strange aspects (like the Minium stone's lack of Permutatio and Praecantatio) is because Thaumcraft attempts to predict what aspects would be in an item by piecing together the aspects in the items in recipes that can make that item. Obviously, Thaumcraft has no way of being able to tell what arbitrary aspects we might attach to an item by its recipe, so it guesses "a thing made of stone, iron, and gold" is made up with their aspects.
In the first case: Balance. Azanor could make somethings taking in consideration that there's only a few origins of some aspect. Even if there is no blocks, it messes up directly with the "core" of thaumcraft, and in future update, azanor may and will not be able to check every aspect in this mod to be aware of the impact of his decisions about aspects. It could be a total game breaker.
Second: Less Aspects means that, again, there will sure be a hard aspect, this will mess with it. And, of course, if there is balanced aspects, and even less than now, dont be a pussy, use vanilla items the way azanor thinks we should, that way we are ensured to be doing the right thing.
Third: nothing to say
I think thats something the mod creator could change. But again, there's the balance problem.
And, finally, as i told you, it is pretty hard they will add it to ftb, why? Because its in development. And we dont see too much in development stuff in ftb (except from well known modders, who we know will update and don't make ftb keep a version for half a year... rp2 cof cof)
If azanor would make his own patch, i would like to see it in ftb.. by now, this is a mod that must be added by ourselves (i do have it, i changed the values manually so the values of.. almost everything, is halfed, that way i don't feel it like a balance breaker) but to be added for ftb, i doubt it, may be a problem in servers..
