I have been trying for the past week to be able to launch a game using some of the mods available, but every time I try it fails and says "(From Console: Jan 04, 2014 7:48:50 PM java.util.prefs.WindowsPreferences <init> WARNING: Could not open/create prefs root node Software\JavaSoft\Prefs at root 0x80000002. Windows RegCreateKeyEx(...) returned error code 5") I have looked around the internet on what to do to fix this but I cannot find anything about what is happening. I know I have the newest version of Java because I just installed it on the new laptop I am using. I have even tried uninstalling and re-installing Java to see if that works and it does not, and also doing the same thing with FTB. It is getting really frustrating because I do not know what kind of error this is every time I find under the console page popup. What do I do to fix any of this?

I had a similar problem back in the 1.4.7 versions of FTB.
My Fix:
1) Backup your world(s) to a different location.
2) Delete, download and re-install FTB
3) Make sure that FTB links to your relevant version of Java
- 64-bit OS = C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe
- 32-bit OS = C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe
4) Paste your worlds(s) into <FTB_FOLDER_NAME\MODPACK_NAME\minecraft\saves\ folder
5) Launch FTB and you should be good-to-go!
