Whenever I open the launcher and launch the DW20 1.6.4 (or any other) modpack I am told that there is an update. I tried to download the update (without backing up config) then the small window showing the download's progress appears. It dosn't move at all and I after 30 seconds a window pops up saying "Error downloading modpack!!!". I have tried re downloading the launcher (v1.3.2)(both windows .jar and .exe) as well as deleting all files for FTB. I am unable to download any modpack all result the same. Occasionally it will download ~90 Kb worth of the pack before displaying Error. It downloads the file version although it has no writing in it. The problem is most likely very obvious and i just can't figure it out. It may be related to my internet but i am unsure. I also have both 32 and 64 java installed due to Google chrome being only 32 bit but it has caused no problems in the past. For a period of time it got stuck on downloading modpack.xml but the process that the second person recommended fixed it.

I have now gone through the troubleshooting process.

This includes all relevant information from console: http://pastebin.com/pgtT6UT3

Welcome. This is not the full console log please begin by deleting the ftblauncher folder in your %AppData% folder then follow the recommended setup guide. If after that you are still experiencing problems please post a full new console log to pastebin.com by clicking on the 'Paste my log to pastebin.com' button on the console. This will create a link to where your log was saved, post that link here.

Open FTB, Click Options, Click Advanced Options at the bottom, Server location = Nuttingham, OR try other servers, Close down FTB after selecting a new server, Reopen and see if it works, It fixed my issue yesterday and today.

I found that this works and solves my problem of the modpack.xml loading. Thanks for the help. I tried it again and found it worked that time Thank you so much! :) :)

Good to know about that.

[13:06:22] [ERROR] FileOutputStream.open:-2->LauncherConsole.<init>:191: C:\Users\Mick\Desktop\Games\Minecraft\Client\FTB\Files \FTBLauncherLog.txt (The system cannot find the path specified): java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\Mick\Desktop\Games\Minecraft\Client\FTB\Files \FTBLauncherLog.txt (The system cannot find the path specified)
Try removing the extra spaces in the folder named Files. It might be keeping the files below it from being able to be read, as there should be no reason for the extra spaces windows should remove them by default when you create the folder/file unless there is a special character there that is hidden at the end. The launcher dislikes special characters, use only alpha-numeric names. If that does not fix it try temporarily disabling your antivirus program.

I'm afraid changing the file location and checking for extra characters had no effect. How do i turn off my antivirus temporarily (i have Norton 360)? I temporarily turned off my firewall and that had no effect if that's what you are recommending.

This is exactly what's been happening with mine as well lately. Everything described above what I'm getting as well. The launcher and mods were working fine a few days ago.

It seems to be an issue with Creeper Host, but I'm hardly fluent with Java scrip.I'll post a link to what my console is saying, http://pastebin.com/SaS6QDZH

I am having all the above issues with the launcher as well. The launcher initially could not find the modpacks. It's no longer even searching for the modpacks anymore. Now it cannot update the launcher, and won't launch without the update. It no longer has an Advanced Options button, so I cannot select a specific city (altho that did not work yesterday when I still had the button and tried it). I've deleted the launcher, and reinstalled it. Still won't work. Any suggestions? It worked perfectly up until 2 days ago.

Not your firewall, but your antivirus program. Which might be the same program, but different part to disable. Norton is known to cause some problems with downloading the packs, look here under the 'Other USEFUL Information:' header first paragraph. Here is a link about adding the mod pack folder to the exceptions list of your antivirus program if temporarily disabling the antivirus portion does not work. Add this folder, 'C:\Users\Mick\Desktop\Games\Minecraft\Client\FTB\Files\' and be sure to check any boxes that says 'include sub-folders'.

I was fine a few days ago as well.
I'm not sure if this will help or not: http://status.creeperrepo.net/
The Chicago ones seem to be down.

Try the suggestion below first.

I have tried all the suggestions above, all that any of it accomplished is being unable to load the mod packs in the list.

Even tried switching servers in the launcher settings but the only ones listed were "Automatic" and "Chicago".

I no longer have and Advance Options button, so can't even try to change it from Automatic to another city.

Do you have Chicago 2? It appears to be online while plain Chicago isn't.

Make sure to run FTB in Administration mode, And try changing your server download location to Nuttingham, And if that does not work, Try the other servers, Remember to close your FTB and reopen it each time you change your server download location.

Sometimes people do not want to read all of the forum topic and they try to look at the end of a forum instead, Just lending a helping hand is all.

If they are not going to read the entire thread, that's on them. They can be redirected to where the suggestions are posted.

Copy and pasting the same thing on several threads, especially when the suggestion you're making has already been stated, just makes you look like you're the one not reading.
