We tried to lock the chest with diamonds, but it wont work.
the lock changes its color, but nothing else, it is still possible to open them.

is there any way to lock different color-codes to players?

Did the other player open your locked chest by clicking on it, or by building his own ender chest, setting it to the same color and getting your stuff?
That diamond is a kind of fourth color, not a lock.

both, he was able to open my locked chest, and he had acces to it with a new chest that had the same code.
in my opinion there is no need for a lock if you can simply bypass it with another chest -.-

you have to click the lock with the diamond, so io call it a lock^^

I haven't tested this as I don't play SMP, but working on what I saw of DW20's video. In that he opened a chest that RichardG had locked, it showed his name in the top right hand corner of the chest gui.

Can the other player see (and steal) stuff that you've placed in it? that's the key aspect of the lock.

As of 1.2, Using a diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest will move it to a seperate network for the player that used the diamond. This allows each player to have acceess to all 4096 frequencies without conflicting in SMP.

if thay made them so only you could open thay would have to remove the ability to pump items in and out of them thus rendering them useless for most things currently used for

It isn't a lock. It puts your name on the chest and gives you your own personal color system. It basically adds a fourth color only you can use.
