It's a shame that the Sortron doesn't have a Sorting Machine Emulator mode that can be set up and edited by a computer. That way the computer can sit there waiting for signals and reprogram the sorting machine network on demand. Jacketed Ribbon Cable would be nice as well as my sorting machines are mostly up in the air.

I've started building my auto processing system. Here are the signal inputs:

I'm only using three inputs at the moment - Macerate, Furnace, and Recycle. I think that 7 is probably enough for all the remote processing that I will need, it's easy to expand up to 16 functions, and if I need more than that then I can always go binary. If you want to see my Forth program so far, see my other thread about making Forth easier to use; it's nowhere near finished yet though, all it does is wait for a signal on the first three wires (red, orange, and yellow) and print out which one it detected.[DOUBLEPOST=1362355387][/DOUBLEPOST]
They just seem so homogenous at this point. Once I saw one with more than one sorter, the only new things I see involve sortrons and no one is cowboy enough to actually use that amazing machine..

There's only one answer to that. Yeeha!

I am replacing most of the Sorting Machines that I am using to pull items out of my procedding machines. I went with Sorting Machines because they are the only thing that automatically pulls from the attached inventory, I didn't want to have Timers wired up to everything. I'm going with the Timers and Filters now though, one advantage being that if I only pulse it every 30 seconds then it will send a small stack of items as a singe packet rather than every single item, while still clearing all the items out. I think I can avoid lighting recalculations by throwing lots of torches around, which isn't exactly ideal. Maybe jacketed wire would be better, I don't think they leak light. Does this make sense?

p.s. Anyone want to buy 12 surplus Sorting Machines? One careful owner!
