Ender chest from normal Minecraft

In the 3.1 beta the ender chest from normal minecraft is not in the game i was wandering if this is a bug or is it a setting from one of the mods. Not sure how it could be but i don't know much about that kind of stuff. thanks for the answers
 
Ender Storage mod by chickenbones removed the normal one from game. =)

Tested by loading FTB with mod installed and it wasn't there but was there once i removed Ender Storage from mod folder.
 
Well still think its to bed that they removed it. Might gone look in configs if maybe it cant be set so they are both in. Its still nice that the vanilla is user bound.

Nothing in the configs as far as i could see only the item ID so probably hard coded into the mod.
 
Enderchests from Chikenbones are pretty useless now anyway, nerfed them down to 9 slots and no config to change them back to useful.

I used to use them extensively in my builds as teleport pipes/as a way to prevent me having to run huge long pipes, but it seems I should be going back to the old ways now.

Do the normal ones work crossed worlds(mystcraft)? Also that is why they were nerfed.
 
Just tried it and it does work across worlds i guess what the difference is that you can have more then just one. (only useful singleplayer)
 
Well i think we will use the vanille enderchest. Due to its bigger size and that other players cannot steal from it.

This can be done with the mod chest if they find your collor code. As a server owner i know from experiance this CAN couse unwanted figts between players.
 
Im staying with ender storage so i can color code and use them as teleport pipes =P and can i have more then just one set.

But yes the normal one is good for locking stuff away that you don't want others looking at.
 
It is kinda sad that it isn't a config option not much you can do about it though. Btw i thought you could lock the enderchest's from the ender storage mod with a diamond by clicking with one on the tab on the front of the chest?

Wow that is true i looked at chickenbones post of the mod and i quote from it

As of 1.2, Using a diamond on the latch of an Ender Chest will move it to a seperate network for the player that used the diamond. This allows each player to have acceess to all 4096 frequencies without conflicting in SMP.

I understand the size difference but on an server you will have a mod that will allow you to lock chests to yourself so in that case the ender storage becomes a teleport pipe. So you can pump in and out of it.
 
Well the ender-storage always was meant as some kind of interdimensional or long range transport. It only stores very few items, but well if you pump them out somewhere else 9 slots is pretty much enough.

If you want a personal chest... I guess FTB has IC2 installed... well actually no need to guess, it is installed and it has a personal safe. And I'm not sure if the ender-chest from vanilla-mc is protected against things like Blockbreakers or such while the personal safe propably is.

Not for me, I like to build processing plants that can handle huge peak volumes, my last major build could process* in real time the output from 24 fully powered quarries. To do this I had to design and build item/flow regulators and much more besides, the ender chests as a 3x3 is way too small a buffer space, it could be filled in one tick (and would extremely like be filled in one tick) and I need a space much larger than that per tick (i.e. even if I empty the entire chest every tick, in the very next tick there would be more items than the 3x3 could hold, so my entire system would backup and be limited by this bottle neck.)

I'm thinking of other designs, which is cool I guess, but what I intended to do with my next major build was to push on to being to handle in real time the output of 64 mining turtles each mining one chunk.

The problem so far, is that every design I've come up with so far that does away with or deals with the ender chest nerf will cause way more server load.

*sort, macerate, sort, furnace, sort, do something with stuff, sort, autocraft, storage etc
 
i think that is the point of the nerf so you just can't use one to transport a lot of items at once and make really big things so you can blink and have 4 quad suits =P
 
Given how the authors play MC or how they think it should be played I'm sure it was nerfed for balance, but what is wrong with the way I was using it? It allowed me to make mega processing plants without killing the server.
 
i wasn't saying what you were doing anything wrong and if it came out that way im sorry but what i am saying is that they put a nerf there for a reason and we may not know unless someone asks chichenbones.
