So I noticed OpenBlocks and MineFactory Reloaded have some similar blocks like the auto enchanter and auto anvil. Could someone help me understand the differences in the systems and the advantages over each and the vanilla table please ?

Also, with bibliocraft you can copy enchanted books (?I think). I am having a hard time understanding the advantages to using all of the things like this over normal enchanting. Is there a good method to get better or more enchantments. I was thinking about Enchanting Plus, but it seems OP. Then there is Ritual Enchanting, and even more stuff from Extra Utilities & Random Things mod I guess. I don't want to even touch Thaumcraft right now either. I just need some direction for taking advantage of the enchantment system with all this new stuff. I'd also like a mod that lets you rename items without using XP, because I think that is dumb. I want to make nametags and name all my pets, so what ? It shoudn't cost me a whole lot IMO. Buckle and I go way back, he deserves a nametag !

I know you said you don't want to touch TC4, but the Osmotic Enchanter is still by far the best enchanting device to date. It works on vis in your wand, so you can waste your EXP other places, like renaming things.

The MFR machines need mob essence, time and power to run. The openblocks machines need xp juice, run instantly and take no power. Obviously they also have different crafting recipes and appearances.

Is there any advantage to enchanting via auto enchanters other than them using automation and Mob essence/XP Juice ? I guess one could make alot of books enchanted randomly and then use said books to enchant them item you want to have the enchantment ? Taking out *some* of the randomness of enchanting...I think I am going to try out Ritual Enchanting, but then I feel like I'd have no use for Bibliocrafts cool looking typesetting table or any auto-enchanter stuff. Am I missing something ? I guess I just thought that all this stuff dealing with enchanting would do more or something...idk...

PS: Sidenote: I would like to get into thaumcraft, but I think I'd really need a new world for that which sounds awful as I am playing on ultra hardcore, and I also think it would very much unbalance my pack. However, I was considering a medeival themed new pack centered on Minefantasy, maybe Thaumcraft could get shoehorned into that ?

I just remembered, the MFR auto enchanter can re enchant enchanted things for more power and mob essence. Apart from that the only advantage to automated enchanters is that they are automated.

I found the bibliocraft stuff works best in a multiplayer server where you have a central enchanting room. People bring in their enchanted books to the "library" and have a chance to copy existing books to get the exact enchants they want. Since you can copy the books.. once you get an enchant, its permanent, since you can always make a copy.

That is a great idea ! Thanks, now I will be sure to always keep a copy. A bibliocraft enchanting library is already being constructed in my head...

The only trouble we ran into was the xps needed to copy some of the books. A mob grinder or automated xp generator is required.
