Hi All,
I am playing the Direwolf20 modpack and we want the ability to make emeralds from UU Mater. Can I change a config option or something to enable this?

Thanks in advance!

no, as it stands there is not uu recipe for emeralds, your options are find a extreme hills biome & quarry it to death, or go the bees route.

GregTech may increase difficulty of some things, sadly one of the nice features it offers it the UU recipes for emeralds, blaze rods, and ender pearls.

So if we wanted to add this we would have to enable GregTech? Is that easy to do or just not possible in the DW20 modpack?

If you want emerald, there's also the option of farming them from villagers. Its very vanilla I know, but with modded farms for wheat, wool (sheep/string), paper, and books(leather), you could make a nice profit. It could also be a fun build

In 1.5.2 you can get emeralds from scrapboxes though not sure if you can in 1.4.7 but worth a try.

Thanks for the quick feedback everyone. I am doing some villager breading now. I had to because the UU mater recipes didn't work. Just sucked because assumed that I could make Emeralds from UU mater because I saw it elsewhere in a video. Never tested the recipe. *facepalm* Then I spent a metric ton of resources on an HV solar array to run a mass fab only to discover it was wasted. (a little) Haha! guess that will teach me to assume in the future right.

I may try the gregtech route on a backup and see how it goes. Not the end of the world if I cant get emeralds easily. Villager trading has gone fairly well so far. Just need to figure out what I am gonna use 3k+ uu mater on. ;)

Gregtech has something for that, but if you don't like that kind of thing, you can make some bees. The miner from IC2 in an extreme hills biome is probably your best bet for getting fast emeralds easily. Villagers also have some pretty stupid trades(good stupid.. for you at least.).

The Miner is from BC as is the quarry, hey I have made that mistake in the past too, even a large 9-16 chunk quarry will not get more then 4 or 5 emeralds, maybe 10 if ubber lucky, emerald are in Ehills biomes but by no means are they common, I normaly go bees there on the way to a branch & normally make anyway.

Villagers are an option, & can be semi automated but I often find them too much of a pain to deal with for long, I want the bee/TC villagers mostly the rest are killed off if there first trade is not cheap or useful.

Mining manually, I can find about 30 emerald ore (that's before fortune) in under an hour. Quarries are overrated, and certainly not necessary if you're only looking for one resource.

IC2 has its own miner that seeks out new life ore blocks below it.

Wait what? But it takes EU, not MJ.

See? I'm not crazy.

I've often found emeralds not that hard to find. I know that doesn't help. I'd rather diamonds, though.
You could find a village and go the villager trading route.
