Can't seem to figure out how to turn it on to loss less mode, tried every variation of M and right click but none seem to work.

Remap the mode hotkey to something other than M. Rei's Minimap, or at least the version in the current FTB pack, prevents any other mod from using M as a hotkey.

This is what I did, and it works fine. I remapped the "switch mode" key to N, then once you're holding the wrench in your hand, hold N and right-click to switch the mode.

I just shift rightclick

This absolutely did not work for me.
