DW20pack 1.10.2 Can't mine ardite with steel pickaxe

I looked on wikis, seems alumite is not in tinkerer's construct anymore, but along alumite the only materials that could mine ardite were steel and pig iron. I just happened to have 3 steel ingots, I smelted them, made a pickaxe from steel pickaxe head, steel tool rod and obsidian binding. but I can't mine ardite or cobalt with it, am I mising something? in the materials and you book a steel pickaxe seem to have the highest mining level south of ardit, cobalt and upwards. assuming obsidian is higher than diamond.

I can't mine them with a diamond pickaxe either. what do I need to do?

Either upgrade to an obsidian head or make an obsidian sharpening kit

Use lava and water in your smeltery to get obsidian
