Details of the issue Since the server I play on updated to 1.6.1 today, I've been getting severe lag and/or sudden game halts. It happens in the nether within a minute or so of going in as well as the overworld randomly after ~30-45 minutes. Specifically what happens is the game completely freezes with javaw.exe shooting up to 100% CPU usage. I can't alt-tab out but I can ctrl+alt+del to close it via task manager.

I was on 1.4.1 before this update and never had this issue until today.

1.6.1 is still in beta I think.

Does this affect ohters on the server, or is it just you?

Can you reproduce the issue in a singel player world?

Do you have any antivirus on your machine?

Is the server running any other software to start the server (thinking sponge, thermos, bukkit-like) - or is it a server running on the jar provided in the server zip-file?

Can you try and disable journeymap on your client and see if that makes any difference (this is just guessing - so not sure it will make any difference)
