I think I missed that conversation, but does anyone know why BoP was not included or config'd for true by default in the DW20 pack?

Don't know whether it's the same as for the other packs, but the team made the decision not to include any biome mods as enabled by default (primarily, I think, because they mess with the spawn rates of other mod stuff). I believe that it'll still be there, but you need to enable it manually. If you're running a server there's a little bit more work that you need to do to have it running.

A lot of servers will not enable it because it forces users to enable it and lots of people are too lazy to do so. This really sucks :\

People tend to go with defaults, and it's relatively easy for an organisation to impose opinions on it's users by using that behavior. FTB could be doing it because they believe that the experience without it better, but they keep it included (disabled) to give the choice. Or, it could be a subtle dig at the issue currently in the public eye in the UK, regarding a certain filter, and the difference between opt-in and opt-out. Who knows.

When I got BoP working finally (me being one who always go with defaults) it was like taking the pendulum needle and swinging it from the boring vanilla side, to the too busy side. I like it, but holy cow it was alittle much.

It takes time to get used to BoP but there are magic biomes where you can find oblivion hives with enderstone in the overworld. This is a critical component to making soul shards. SO if you want to create a mob spawner without going to the end you need to enable BoP.

It's not the only way. Mystcraft is another, I forget whether it's in scrapboxes or not. Regardless, the whole point of making the soul shards technique require endstone was to delay it until later game.

As I said, you may prefer it enabled, but it does mess with the spawns for other mods, and even vanilla stuff (temples and villages, particularly). The question was asked as to why it's not included, and an answer has been given, to the best of my knowledge. If you do not like this answer, you are welcome to either:
A) Enable the mod yourself.
B) Create your own private pack for it.
C) Take it up with DW20/FTB team.

If you wish to continue discussion, you are free to do so, and I will endeavor to respond as best I can.

Umm not sure if you realize but I did not start this thread... I make my own pack. I installed BoP before FTB used it. I also used MFR and plugins for forestry before FTB used them. You dont need to tell me what to do man I got my minecraft covered.

No worries, you just seemed to be trying to make a point about the better organisation of the pack, and, if you want to do anything about it, this is not the best route to do it. Just offering advice is all. If I came off as aggressive, I apologise. The internet's a difficult place to convey tone.

Honestly they included the file in the launcher. I cant imagine it being an easier to activate it. And I dont believe that would prevent server owners from using it. So honestly I think it was the best way of handling it. I know when i first started using BoP I had to get used to the lack of green slims. It can be quite annoying. Until you realize that MFR has a block called the unifier that converts blue slim balls into green ones. The latest BoP thats out has some improvements then the one in the FTB pack. But I have no complaints about what slow is doing... FTB is by far the best launcher out there and I tend to lean on their ID work and forge installs. With MultiMC this is easy. You can easily import a pack and then edit it to your hearts content. Its really not that hipster lol. Or maybe I am and I had no idea lol I know I dont go dumpster diving lol

Yeah, I played with BoP for a while, but it was the lack of slimes (which I usually have issues finding to begin with), but mainly the fact that village generation gets more screwed up that put me off. Plus the fact that most of the things added are for aesthetic value, which isn't usually a primary component of my builds.

oh snap... that m'fr translates the blue to green slime? hmmm... thats good stuff. Sure they by default are interchangeable in recipies, but to finally use green slime tools with TC finally can happen.

... and that's the reason that I tend not to use the unifier for that. It's fine in most circumstances, to allow you to get the slimes for recipes that don't use the dictionary items, but I wouldn't want to abuse it in the times that the two are actually differentiated.

I use the unifier to get green slime to get my bioreactor going. Which imo should use either anyways. I do consider it cheaty to use the unifier to get green slime for TC since blue slime was introduced by TC... Its not that hard to look for a slime chunk and make a flat floor at like level 3. Its just early game I really need that green slime.

I feel you... but because I have never seen a green slime in a month of playing with natura (where blue slimes are coming from. Before the only time I would see slimes is in the TF laberynths and even they were blue slimes but they regestered as green slimes for drops) and that kind of rarity justifies it for me. Especially since voxelmap does not show slime chunks.

If I recall, the effectiveness of slime chunks was reduced by vanilla a while back, in favour of swamps and some black magic regarding moon phases, or some such rubbish. Anyways, finding swamps is more tricky with BoP, then hanging around until night to find the slimes is just more than I'm willing to do.

And the blue slimes are added by Tinker's, not natura, I believe. Hence the distinction between green and blue slimes in their parts.
