So... 100rf/t... and... not freaking worth it... tbh LOL I imagine I could make a smaller simpler version... but ... I feel like this should push out a lot more rf for the bs that is involved with this... Of course I despise in world mechanics for regular repeated crafting. Boss summons etc, I'm ok with but... something I have to do over and over and over... I'm good. I'll strike this off the list.


edit: forgot to factor in cost of the reconstructor (1000 rf per use on single item, more for stack). 1 seed makes 1 bucket of crystalized oil. Burns for 100 rf/t for 140 ticks? so 10,400 rf for 1 bucket minus the 1000 for the seed. That's 9400 rf per bucket gain... Seems very underpowered to me.
From crystallised oil you should be getting a lot more than 100 RF/t! It depends on the version but you should either be getting 200 RF/t or 280 CF/t from each oil generator!

Now that IS odd. I'd read that exactly the way you did! I know Ellpeck did consider making the fuels last longer instead of generating more power, but I thought after feedback they'd decided against that! Perhaps it's been changed again, in which case I apologise and you were correct!

EDIT: I've made note on the curseforge page; from the response to one thread on the actual GitHub it made me wonder if the liquid fuels have just been massively depowered in 1.12 - at least in terms of generation per tick; Shadows of Fire, who seemed to be monitoring the GitHub and responding to issues, seemed unfazed with the mention someone made of 120 CF/t for empowered oil. That's pretty massively nerfed if true, regardless of whether it burns for a long time (apparently that tick value is for 50 mB, not a bucket).

The generators only eat about 50mb at a time. So as big as your fuel system is, if you want more power just add many, many more generators.
Which seems a shame, because the dev had previously steered away from the "spam moar gennies" route by having the upgradeable oil - it made it worthwhile. Where it stands now, you might as well just ferment the oil and have done with it.

It's not exactly a spam situation, more of the fact that the oil's being produced in far higher quantity than a couple of generators can transform it into power. So you need more generators.

Alternately, it's a good time to get into Advanced Generators, which will have no problem producing vastly more power. To whit, one Steel/Many/Advanced Alloys turbine produces 500RF/t from a single block when plugged in, and if it's fully fuel/air mixered up, it does it from even less fuel than the Canola gens.

I personally don't have issue with using "upgraded" oil. But the manner in which you have to upgrade it is... well in world mechanics are cumbersome at best should yield appropriate rewards. I feel like, as I mentioned before, just not worth the effort.

I do agree about the in world crafting thing. But it's a part of the mod, since you start off by building the Atomic Reconstructor, and that uses exclusively in world crafting.

wondering how long before someone gets tired of it enough to make a block that does it without world mechanics. Like the ae2 addons lol

I absolutely love AA, so I feel like i’m betraying it a bit by saying this, but:

I would go Energetic Infuser for converting seeds to crystallised seeds; that’s analogous to the Reconstructor I think. The potion brewer for turning oil into crystallised oil is a brilliant idea though - and that would work for empowered oil too. Are you guys still ok with the empowerer at least?

When I found out that refined storage supported microblocks like c&b (haven't tried it yet but that's what I read), it was the final nail in the coffin. Besides I get much better frame rate with refined storage than I do ae2. And no in world mechanics or channel restrictions. I know some people enjoy them but honestly, I want to build more aesthetically pleasing things instead of worrying about channels. When I bring this up, people bring up p2p and sub-networks that make the channels obsolete. So why bother with them? Feels more like greg tech now lol.

Given the changes they've made, I'm really with you on that to be honest. They've gone the same route with fuels as Thermal Expansion has. In TE, the RF/t you get is dependent on the dynamo, not the fuel - fuel only dictates total RF produced. So crude oil produces 400,000 RF in total, refined into naphtha and you get 1,250,000 RF in total, refine again and you get 2,000,000. But - and here's the kicker - in TE, you can upgrade the dynamo. So just baseline upgrades from Basic up to Resonant goes (in RF/t) 40, 60, 80, 100, 120. Not huge numbers, but not bad. However, then you get the augments as well, whereby you can fit more into more advanced dynamos. Until you are getting up to really fairly respectable low-mid tier power generation. And I don't think that upgrading to those high tiers is in itself an end-tier aim, I think its distinctly low to mid tier! Enderium isn't so hard to get hold of really, after all!

So yeah, I think overall its really a bit of a negative :(

I understand changing the power production like that. It makes sense from a lot of ways. The problem is the power use of machines has just gone up. In order to run everything you have to produce extreme reactors type power or more. It's not balanced but it looks like it's headed in the right direction.

Channels served a purpose for balancing, since with channels limiting things, you no longer had to pay for the price of running long cables. After running several hundred blocks of cabling, powering them was a bit of a pain. Instead we got channels and didn't have to pay a power cost for them. Of course they can also be configured away if that's your thing.

AE2 Stuff means the only world crafting your have to do is a batch of Fluix to make the Crystal Growth Chamber and the singularities.

Still, everyone wants something different. Personally I prefer the one click ease of AE's facades, over fighting with Chisel and Bits.
