The idea is based on a simple "issue" in the DW20 1.7.10 pack. Mystcraft ages are unstable due to custom ore generation. I do not know if anything else is effected by the ore gen or not...

Here goes. Keep the custom ore gen values the way they are. Simple?

But... Add clone values of each ore type with lower setting that are closer to vanilla or slightly lower then that even.

For the current ore values, change the dimensionrestriction type from blacklist too whitelist. and set the dimensions to 0(overworld) and 7(twilight forest), both of which work just fine with the current values.

Then for the cloned values, set the dimensionrestriction type to blacklist, and set their dimensions to also be 0, 7, 1, and -1. And change how much of each ore is spawned by the cloned settings to a lower amount.

This way you will have two different ways each ore can be generated depending on what dimension you are in. This should allow you to turn down the ore counts for any unlisted dimensions(namely ones generated as Mystcraft ages) and still keep the FTB custom settings we all enjoy for the overworld.

This should allow the ore generation to remain the same and still fix the issue that can arisen with Mystcraft and instability.

XCompWiz said something about fixing that on Direwolf20's Forgecraft series. Just wait a bit, it's coming.

If you are going to mess with the configs, wouldn't it be easier to adjust the instability values in the Mystcraft configs? Disabling instability all together is easy, adjusting the amount of instability per ore may take a fair understanding of ore gen & some math, or a good bit of trial & error.

I'm trying to give myself a reason to use trains & stargates (I've added LanteaCraft to the pack), so I've disabled Mystcraft this go around. The linking books are just too convenient an alternative.

OT, but you might want to take a look at the original mod by GregEwing (SGCraft) that lanteacraft is a port off. He has made a lot of improvements (Irises, EU/RF/BC powered gates) and is a much smaller mod since it isn't filled with things that are not implemented. Plus important thing, seems more active at the moment maintaining and developing. LanteaCraft team seem to have stagnated (impression I've gained from MCF forums).

I have tested out this idea, having the current(1.0.2) ore generation for the overworld and twilight forest, and lower ore generation for the other dimensions(ages) helps. But it does not seem to be the whole solution... After making 6 random ages(only a link panel and no symbols), 5 of them had instability yet and only 1 was stable, which IS better then it was. 4 of those were due to odd liquids being used for lakes, or having ore block formations for example. The 5th was so unstable to I have no idea what was causing the instability.

It was a fun one. 7 different debuffs, including poison, blindness, and wither effect. and all 5 decay types, yes, even black and white decay. o_O never seen that one before. and to top that all off, random explosions, crumble, and meteors. hah I just might have too keep that one, just for giggles.

I then tried making a single mystcraft age to order. This age ended up with no instability at all, perfectly stable. So the changes do work, somewhat. The changes I tried seemed to not be enough to completely fix the issues though. Close though. and to specify, the age was flat terrain, overworld biome distribution, with stone and water default blocks. Without the ore gen changes, this would never be stable.
