I play FTB Ultimate SSP, and am noticing a duplication issue with AE autocrafting. It is intermittent and so far, not reproducible at will. But I figured I'd post about it and see if anyone else has encountered this.

I just reached the point where I have a ton of "super bees" making every raw material possible. But I haven't automated everything yet, just from comb->tiny dust->dust. Then I made a blank pattern with one dust->one ingot and put that into my ME interface sitting on my induction furnace.

So for example let's say I have 3300 copper dusts. I go into my AE terminal and request a craft for 3200 copper ingots. After a few minutes, I check my inventory and yes, there are now 3200 more ingots in stock. Then I check my copper dust... holy cow, how the heck do I have like 5000 dusts now??? I saw this same thing happen with silver dust and gold dust. But it didn't happen when I crafted iron, zinc or tin. It seems random.

I've also noticed this with crafting ultimate hybrid solar panels. I had 88 UU matter, crafted a ult hybrid (which costs about 62 UU's I think), and re-checked my UU matter... huh? I still have 86? Wow. Let me quick craft another one (LOL).

I made about 5 ult hybrid solars like this... then for some reason the UU started dropping (as it should) and I had to go back to grinding more UU's out of my matter fab. And it just happened to me this morning with impregnated frames, I auto-crafted 4096 of them because I noticed I had more than 32,000 impregnated sticks built up... and when the craft was finished, now I somehow have 64,000 impregnated sticks. That prompted me to finally come here and report it. I think AE has some kind of problem with adding when it should be subtracting instead?

Anyhow... TL;DR - is duplication issue with AE autocrafting a known bug in FTB Ultimate? Does anyone know why this is occurring?

Yes I am 100% positive the materials are not coming from anywhere in my system. My entire existence on my SSP world is in a 5x5 chunk area. My base is pretty tiny, most of the space is taken up by numerous 9x9x8 iron tanks for liquids and I have 30 alvearys going too. I only have one AE system and it's pretty small and easy to "debug" since I don't have any ME chests or even normal chests connected. Believe me... the first time this happened (with the copper dust/ingots), I was shocked/amazed/astounded and did an internet search for AE bugs, AE duplication, etc. I found nothing in the search results. So I figured it must be something on my end. But then it happened again, and again, and again. It is still happening, as I indicated with the impregnated sticks/frames thing happening again today.

My Ultimate Hybrid Solars are build entirely thru auto-crafting, however I still have to make (i.e. pre-stock) some items manually - implosion compressing the iridium plates, compressing the enriched uranium and the coal balls and advanced alloys. I check my UU and my iridium plate quantities before I craft another Ultimate Hybrid Solar which is how I began to notice something really weird was occurring. When I have 88 UU matter and 18 iridium plates and can somehow make 5 Ultimate Hybrid Solars with no change in UU or plate quantity.... something really strange is going on.

You might think it's a silly thing to complain about, duplication of items in single player mode, but when I build up to 32,000 of one item, I prefer to turn them into a much smaller quantity by crafting them. One frame takes 8 sticks, so I can compact my AE inventory space down by crafting them. But instead of compacting my inventory down, the opposite is happening. Instead of turning 32,000 sticks into 4000 frames, I now have the 4000 frames PLUS 64,000 sticks. So much for conserving AE disk space, eh? LOL

Oh well, I did take advantage of the copper situation and I now have about 30K ingots which should help me out when I eventually attempt to build nuclear reactors which I have read can cost a lot of copper to run.

I just read thru the changelogs on the AE site. http://ae-mod.info/Change-Log/

I never know what version of what mods are included in FTB packages (one of my pet peeves, the wiki sometimes is helpful with this information but more often than not it isn't). But just reading thru that changelog makes it seem to me that this is likely a bug in an older version of AE that has long since been fixed. There have been a whole lot of changes to AE since the version we are using in Ultimate. There were a lot of bugs that have supposedly been fixed. My issue is probably just one of them.

Too bad I didn't know about this when I was playing SMP FTB Ultimate. :) The server I was on had banned a bunch of items due to duplication glitch problems, etc... but they allowed AE. This dupe glitch could have really been useful (if I could control when/where/how it is occurring).

The versions of the mods are listed when you are on the login screen of the game...click the mods button.

Or read the changelogs, they will also show what versions of mods are in the most recent version of each pack: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/forums/mod-pack-changelogs.62/

Also, you can upgrade AE yourself, the most current version works on 1.4.7/1.5.2 I believe (I'm not 100% sure on 1.4.7 though).

Thanks for the info, staxed. I have avoided upgrading anything, for two reasons.

1) When I played SMP, I was obviously not allowed to touch any of the mods, and
2) I don't know if upgrading one mod will break another mod, so I just don't do it.

Quite honestly this topic is now a moot point, because after achieving the level of making UUmatter, iridium nuggets and ultimate hybrid solar panels this past weekend, I have lost all my interest and desire to play my world. Kinda weird feeling I have right now, but it is what it is.

Maybe at some point I will dedicate the enormous amount of time involved in playing FTB and start up another mod pack. But for right now I can't do that, I'm so burned out after a month of Ultimate...
