I see taint in the background, but taint and dryads are from completely different mods. Dryads = Ars Magica, Taint = Thaumcraft.

About Dryads:
They are from Ars Magica 2.
They are a walking bone meal source, kill about 10 Dryads and something interesting will happen... :D
About Taint:
It is from TC4.
Call the Taintbusters! Use Ethereal Blooms to ride of them, keep a small area so you can farm tainted stuff.

Or very rarely go anywhere near it, I have a fairly large tainted area just outside of my chunk loaders range it hasn't done anything. (and the configs are not edited to stop spread)

I had no idea what dryads were and just killed a bunch because they seemed kinda useless. Result: Well...not really pretty...

SURPRISE!!! have a large angry incredibly tough tree that would really love to plant you!

and might well succeed 200 or 240 health is a good start, as is a longer reach than you, as is a reasonably hard hit, my poor Cleetus (Adv Thaum Golem plating\visor\mace\launcher\fez, air, earthx2 upgrades) got into a fight with an Ent and pretty much got his arse handed to him just couldn't overcome the reach advantage and this is a golem that can take on a wither boss.

Though now I must slaughter Dryads ... you know what you've started here, don't you?

For me because I've never played Terraria?
Actually I found Minecraft when I went looking for Terraria mate was playing it, I couldn't remember the name and wanted something to play, did a search for mining game and got Minecraft.

Dryads are weird. In a mining age, they seem to spawn en masse. And then they are all falling into my quarry :/

They'll spawn a bunch if it's an eternal daylight world, or if other hostile mobs can't spawn. My mining age is overfull as well....it's fun to herd them like cattle.
