Downloaded, Launches but is Vanilla

So I'm having the problem that's in the FAQ ( http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/faq.327/ )
and when I follow the directions on how to solve the problem it still occurs.
I'm not getting any errors in the console at all and everything "downloads" fine yet when I get to the game- it's vanilla.

Anyone able to help me?

Which mod pack are you trying to use? Are you sure its vanilla? When you open minecraft at the initial selection screen does it show a Mods button? Also please follow the recommended setup guide for installing the launcher. If after following that it still opens vanilla then post a console log by clicking on the 'Paste my log to pastebin.com' button on the console. This will add a link to the bottom of the console. Provide us with the link so we can see your log and see if there is anything in it that could explain this. Look here so your log does not get deleted.
