Does the induction smelter increase in speed as it goes?

Induction smelter is a combined Pulveriser and Furnace , that also requires sand and may produce slag. There are also a couple of other uses for it. Induction smelter is not just an Induction furnace.
 
But it seems dramatically slower sometimes. Anything that could cause this? Assuming it always has ample power.
 
Depends on a few things - recipes have different energy requirements, depending what you are doing. The MJ/t also scales between 1 and 4, depending on how much power is available. They're smart that way.

Assuming you have full power, things should take no more than 5 seconds to process.
