Does Rotary Craft (and ReactorCraft) really worth it?

Hey! I'm in love with technical mods, but, I never tried Rotary Craft (and I'm interested in Reactor Craft too). My question is: Does it really worth it? Its like, do I have any advantages? (Example: In IC2 or Thermal Exp..., you can double your ores).

I just wanted to know your opinions because I can't quite understand the concepts of that mod. After getting involved, learning how to use it won't be so hard because I'm a top student in physics and electronics =D Anyway, please don't be rude and if you think I'm stupid or something like dat, hit Alt+F4.

VERY worth it. Ore quintupling, massive power generation with Reactorcraft, excellent auto miners, many utility machines.

As Wagon153 says it is certainly worth it because the mod offers you a big amount of interesting machines. But even without those machines I would find it interesting because it offers an alternative and nice way to handle power.
I'm currently playing with my son on our first 1.7.10 modpack and I'm looking forward to all the changes RotaryCraft in 1.7.10 has to offer.

You contradict yourself, if you like technical modes you can always spend some time in creative world to try a new staff, if you are lazy to try then you simply do not like technical mod and RotaryCraft if too complex for you. This is simple like this if you are not dare to be curious enough then I hardly imagine you with pocket calculator trying to grasp the meaning of log2. No offense this is observation.

You were a little harsh. All he is asking is if it is worth learning the mod.

I find it needlessly complex for my style of Minecraft, but I do have to say, it's got great documentation (Props there Reika!), and the models are fantastic. The miner is one of the top auto miners I've seen, and stuff such as the light bridge are pretty cool.

edited for emphasis, because people can't read. power isn't even the complex part

That it is too complex is actually a misconception IMHO. It is *more* complex then simply using RF for power generation and machines but it is not that much more complex. Instead of a single number (RF) you have to keep two numbers in mind (torque and force). And multiply those two and you have the total power. Once you get this basic principle everything just follows rather easily from that.

The bedrock tools from Rotarycraft are very useful. There is a forced tiered progression in place now, which makes acquiring them take longer than in earlier versions, but it was more or less inevitable. Partly I guess because most of the mod was skipped by many players before, and once you have a +18.25 indestructible sword with Looting V, you probably have the last sword you'll get in that playthrough.

No problem, its just an observation =P And I understand your point of view, but, who says that I also don't like RPG and other types of mods? I "play" a lot with Thaumcraft, Witchery, Battlegear 2, Twilight Forest and many other mods. And you also said that RotaryCraft is too complex for me, actually it isn't, I have pretty good knowledge about physics and chemistry, but even if it was too hard for meh, I like challenges and learn new things. In almost every mod, you know, just learn the machines, power generators and you're off. But this mod is more complex, and at the beginning, yea, it looks hard, but I started exploring it and watching some tutorials and I'm lovin' it =P Anyway, sry for any error that I gave. I'm not a natural speaker >.<

It's kind of an odd question as we don't know you at all, I could say "Yeah it's worth it" becasue I like it but when yo go to play it you find it horrible.

It also depends how you determine the worth of a mod, what you value in a mod. If You value nuance in your play sessions and complexity then RoC is definitely worth it, if you value ore quintupling it's definitely worth it.

Also of note is that you can get ore tripling fairly easily and (fairly) cheaply. A Grinder can triple pretty much any ore, and will prob last you until you get your extractor up and running to replace it. (A grinder is also very simple to overclock, just give it moar speed while preserving it's torque requirement, the extractor is a different cake altogether...)

The two simplest ways to power a grinder early game are a Gasoline Engine, or a Steam engine via a worm gear or 16x gearbox (only use gearboxes if you can keep them lubricated though, or they'll eventually break, unless they bedrock, which you won't have access to until post-extractor)

I'm playing in a modpack that I made for myself. It contains 140 mods and I "worth them" if they get me any advantage or if they're just fun. Which in this case, its worth it.

I'll start by making a steam engine, to power up a fermenter, and then I'll move on to the gasoline engine since it has a better performance and it doesn't explode.

For a fermenter, you only need a DC Engine. And steam engines don't explode unless you overheat them. (and i've only made that happen by putting lava under it). A netherrack fire is perfectly safe.

Thanks for the tip. I tried to to put lava under it but even with a constant supply of water (pipes), they overheat =/ Not with fire =D

You can also put a cooling fin on the steam engine so it won't explode with lava.

Reika's mods have become my favorite since I discovered them a year ago. My current 1.7 pack I made is based on them with a lot of utility mods for fun. The only other major mod I am using is Ender IO because it offers a great solution for plumbing and wiring. I have limited myself to using RoC for mining and dealing with ores. RoC definitely has a steeper learning curve than most mods because it is so different. The scaling of it's power systems is also hugely different than any other mod. Base engines make the equivalent of 2-3 RF/t while the top end makes 100's of thousands of RF/t. The tech progression also requires you to play for a while to get to late game things while not feeling grindy like GT and a few other mods. Even though it takes a very long time to get some things, I never feel like I am just grinding and there are no items that will take you a half hour to craft. For someone who has never played it, it will take a few days of play to understand it. But once you figure out the basics, the rest is quite easy. I would recommend keeping a calculator handy though.

Yeaah, I noticed that xP Specially when trying to squeeze the max amount of power as possible.

It's so worth it. But be beware that everything you do can destroy something in rotarycraft or make something explode. But there are nearly always ways of doing it in a safe way. It's worth learning, because it's the ultimate automation and speeding up mod. Nearly all the machines can be accelerated by just giving it more power, but it can be very expensive.

I have a lot of fun in looking into it, or maybe reading HowTos and immediately see an awesome result, if done correctly.
