Does anyone know of a world downloader mod / tool compatible with FTB?

This is copy-pasted from my post on the FTB reddit.

In case someone doesn't know, what a world downloader does is, while you're on a server, it saves the chunks you're in to your computer, so you can open them up later in single player. I know of this one, but it quite clearly says it's not compatible with Forge. Does anyone know of a similar thing that will work with FTB?

How do I say this without being a complete ass...

The mod you are talking about is clearly made to take chunks and regions from a server without the admins/owner having any say in the matter.

I don't think it would be well received by most to know that if someone just happened to walk by their base, they now have a copy of it in SSP.

That being said, it could be used "right" by copying your own base when you want to test various designs in SSP.


To my knowledge, no other mod like this one exists, mainly because it has to completely hijack multiple minecraft classes in order to work. I am no coder, but I am not convinced that it could even work with Forge.

Anyway, good luck in searching for it.

Don't worry, I am aware that the morality of these is pretty dubious. I just want to build a cool house in the mountains near my temporary base, and I absolutely suck at designing stuff like this without Creative.

Why not simply ask for a region download?
You then just plunk the region file in a world.

I am no expert, but this should work just fine.

If your aim is really to build a cool structure, but you need to try out builds first, your server owner might be ok with giving you access to the region file for where you live.

I just made a port of World Downloader compatible with Forge on 1.5.2. I tested it successfully on FTB Unleashed. It should also work with other 1.5.2 modpacks.
