I never got too into steve's carts and railcraft. Mainly because when i first made one in my main world in ftb ultimate it took an large amount of time and i forgot about it. my friends keep telling me to get into it though. How good is it?[DOUBLEPOST=1386208582][/DOUBLEPOST]
seriously:(
I never play survival unless it's some kind of challenge or something. I hate mining. But that's a really, really big cheat.

But, again, "cheating" in a non-competitive environment, especially when said honed "skills" are not really applicable anywhere else, is entirely up to each person.

I completely agree, every new world I start I cheat a little bit less, but I still crack once in while :p

You really can't on servers.
Depends on if you have op, and if you have access to the console.

I've never personally used Steves Carts in a survival world, but I've played on servers with people using it, and had bases with them and it's awesome

Railcraft on the other hand, has a ton of world-potential. I like this mod so much, I chose it as my primary mod to work with on the wiki. You can do full system using Railcraft. It can sort, grind ores, create energy, and the rails are damn awesome. I highly suggest you get into it.

I do often in singleplayer cheat in the Mystcraft cheatbook. Its not that I mind hunting for pages, but its more to prevent completely cluttering up my save with useless ages. I know I can just delete the unwanted ones, but then I have to keep track of them and there's still the chance I delete the wrong one etc. Its just easier to do them right from the beginning.

I have also on occasion cheated in a Coin of fortune/Magnet glove just because having used it a lot, its impossible to get used to not having it.

Oh yeah and mob griefing off. I play to build good looking stuff mostly, and I just have it when a creaper blows up a large area filled with tons of microblocks etc.

I used to cheat compulsively. It was pretty easy to break myself of the habit, as I can proudly say "I built that, completely legitimate." to people who can hardly believe it. And it feels good to gloat sometimes.

It also gets easier when you record yourself, even if you don't show it it anybody, just because you act slightly different when you feel that somebody may be watching, and you don't want to soil your pristine video evidence.

After all, cheating in something like a LP is the fastest way to lose credibility.

I generally play with mobgriefing off and keepinventory on. Keepinventory is kinda important to me since my keyboard and mouse are kinda terrible. They tent to loose connection at the most inopportune times so I end up with a largish number of "But I was holding shift!" or "I did not mine that square!" Mobgriefing is less of an issue since I normally play on peaceful. With 1.6 I have found myself cheating a lot more what with the sudden CTD wiping out 2-3 hours of work at a stroke and the lack of UU->mobdrops. I know Extra utilities has something that can generate items but meh. Oh and since I am having some !!FUN!! memory issues I usually spawn in stuff from the nether.

Do you remove the Quarry after? I could never picture myself doing that, as I like mining, and typically play with Gregtech, so the quarry is quite expensive, and with other mods that offer that (turtles = stone, glass, redstone, diamonds, sticks, iron, minions = like 8 xp, hammer = some iron, etc)

Yep, I get rid of the quarry, and everything I use to power it, all the pipes and conduits, etc. Everything I cheat in, I get rid of as soon as I'm able. I'm only able to actively play a couple hours a week, I'd rather spend that time building or playing with the mods than digging through caves hoping to find enough materials to get started. And, I prefer the quarry over the turtle as I can go gather wood, hunt down bees, start a farm, etc. while it's working without worrying that the chunk will unload.

Of course, all this is singleplayer or on a private server with friends who cheat even more than I do. If I were ever to play on a more public server, I'd of course do things the old-fashioned way.

Why don't you just find more awesome ways to mine? You know it takes shockingly few resources to start out steves carts miners that do a really, really good job? I'm doing a private game with my wife, and I did this as an experiment (just made a tunneler that did work for me); it worked really well. You can even get a really basic miner on a wooden hull!

I've never actually tried diving into Steve'sCarts. To be honest, I didn't even know it had a mining capability. I'll have to try it. :)

Lost as always
Depends on what you call 'cheating', I suppose

I do spend an inordinate amount of time in Creative mode testing and experimenting with things for my mod pack, making sure that dropping down block x from mod y isn't going to permacrash the server, or testing that bug where that thing connected to that other thing and did a bad thing.

I also occasionally go into creative mode when I am experimenting with theory-crafting. For example, which TiCo bow/arrow combinations work best, I tested multiple combinations on spawned in mobs to see what was necessary. My first concepts for CRCS and Tower of Power builds were done in Creative mode, just to see if it was actually possible by the rules.

When I record episodes for my new Let's Play being released ne... ummm... forget I said that

Ahem... when I play SSP, I almost never use cheat mode for NEI, and then only if it was clear there was some glitch or bug that caused the problem (recipe returned incorrect result, grave didn't spawn so all my stuff vanished...). But then, I actually like the early game stages, where you aren't ub3rl33t and things like zombies and skeletons are actual concerns, particularly en masse.

One of my friends had an FTB Lets Play back when Ultimate was in its early releases, and on the first episode they said "oh yeah, and we are going to cheat in this. if you care, leave" or something of the like. Then they proceeded to build their home (well only one of them cheated, I guess the "we" was actually "I"), cheated in a bunch of TE machines, it was pretty lame and made me not want to watch it.

PSA for all YouTubers and streamers: Don't cheat (or don't cheat obviously), people do not generally like to watch cheating.

I used to turn on creative or refund myself items/experience whenever I died a death I wasn't happy about, so obviously I did this everytime I died.
then I started using keepinventory and mobgriefing, but after a while, I just started dying on purpose just to get home faster.

those worlds I usually ended up trashing soon just because I made it myself so easy. after that I wanted a real challenge, so I turned all those things off and went full hardcore. but ofcourse after dying on some really good worlds, that wasn't the answer either.

so now I'm playing with some mods and specific configurations to make it all a bit fair. I'm using the gravestones mod so I don't lose items upon death and I'm using creepercollateral to make sure I can fill in those nasty creeperholes. I just wish there was also a way to store all your experience upon death, because the last few worlds, I'd say about 10 worlds in 2 days, I all ended up trashing because I died and lost most of my experience, and I just got extremely frustrated about that.

but now I'm thinking of switching to creative mode in certain cases, like going through the nether portal. I had a really good world, but when I went to the nether, I died in like a minute because of a stupid spawn. I had gravestones enabled, but I couldn't find my gravestone anymore because of lava lakes.

I rage-cheated yesterday, when I accidentally through my silverwood, thaumium wand into a crucible which proceeded to spout out that nasty purple liquid all over my base. What is that stuff called?
