Do people still use rubber trees?

The Crop Matron is wonderful for those situations. Everything but Redstone is renewable in the recipe, and you don't even need it once you just want to harvest crops and stop x breeding.

Can the Crop-matron kill weeds for you? I thought it only applied Weed-EX, which from what I've read has some negative effects on crops that grow in space it's been applied to.

Weeds only grow if another crop is not there. They also only spread in the cardinal directions 1 block. If crossbreeding it can only spread to a maximum of three blocks if using the optimal setup. Such is not a huge loss. For a crop you already have plenty of you CAN walk off for an hour and not worry about it. Losing two of the plant is nothing in the scheme of it. For something you've got only 1 or 2 of care breeding(Checking every 15-25 minutes) is best and that leaves almost no risk. Leaving it alone for an hour is low risk. Anti-weed crap is fairly worthless. 16 of any plant will give you all you need of whatever they produce until later mid game.

Oh and @jumpfight redstone is renewable.

That's still more than bees, which can be fully automated.

You change out bees more often than you need to check plants.

Automating everything isn't always a good thing either.

however, when you've got your plants to perfect stats, you don't need to check them at all other than to harvest.

Or for a even better supply of rubber... use UU matter, you get like 21 per ... 3? or something like that. Its quite inexpensive either way [may be off count]

Yeah, I should have said not easily renewable.

Well, compared to spider eyes, tin, fertilizer...and water.

I still have IC2 rubber wood trees enabled... because I still have hope for the IC2 brewing system.
And one needs a piece of rubber wood to make a proper brewing keg. But that's about it. I try to use stickreeds instead of trees when I can.
(also IC2 sticky resin is also usable for torches, and sticky pistons, but that's a secret)

I forgot all about it needing a piece of rubber wood.
But yeah MFR rubber is way more common so it's much better to use for torches. And you can use it's rubber logs to make charcoal so it's good for all early purposes.
