Details of the issue Apologies for the very long message - I'm trying to give as much useful info as I can, but not sure what's useful or not!
I'm following and playing along with, and very close to, Direwolf20's Let's Play season 8. I'm playing Peaceful difficulty as I'm trying to get to grips with the mods, and don't want and spiteful creepers around..
I'm having a problem with Actually Additions. It may not be only AA, but certainly AA lasers are behaving unexpectedly, lately, amongst other things.
I'm wondering if I need to reinstall, but (a) I'm not sure what exactly, and (b) I would hate to lose the game I'm currently playing.
As background: I've played vanilla MC many times but I have very little experience with modded MC. I'm using Win10 on a fairly new (±1-2 yr) desktop, and an FTTC broadband connection gives ±17-18Mb. (I said I'm using the FTB launcher, but I'm not sure - I start from within the Curse window, so I should probably have said I'm using the Curse app?)
Everything went totally according to DW20's LP until I got a bit past the automatic ore processing setup. It worked fine for a few play sessions, but then unexpectedly stopped. I found that mining and replacing the item interface sometimes gets things going again. At other times I have to mine and replace all the SAG mills and all the furnaces as well, and that has always relieved the "blockage". It's been like that for at least a month - I've tolerated it because of the easy workaround.
We were away for about a fortnight recently and, on our return I saw in the Curse startup window that there was a download icon to the left of the PLAY icon. So, I clicked it, and saw that I could get a newer version of what I believed to be the DW02 modpack. Foolishly, I selected to one at the top - the latest beta version.
Running that produced a list of two errors/problems (blocks not found, or something?), and the game hung very frequently and did not get going again, even after an hour's wait, without being exited (with difficulty) and restarted from the Curse window.
After waiting to see if it was a server issue that might go away the next day (it didn't) I had a browse through what I could find via the Curse window and saw that I could roll back to an earlier version which said it was stable, so I did that (can't recall the version number, but it was the latest stable one). Running that the first time produced a heart-stopping whole pageful of errors (blocks not found, again, or something) and when the game settled down, I saw that a few of my wooden chests had disappeared, and the bed. The loss of the chests' contents was annoying but not catastrophic. Everything else seemed to work at least more or less as before. The automatic ore processing issue was unchanged.
The crux came last night when ActAdd's advanced item relays started behaving oddly. Smart whitelist did not work - it did nothing, even after clearing it and trying again with chests full of stuff. So I exited and restarted, and then it worked again, hooray. But then, when trying to add another chest to the network with an advanced item laser relay, smart whitelist added the contents of the chest below it which was not even part of any of the laser networks.
Do I need to reinstall? If so, what exactly do I need to do? And will I lose my save if I do? How can I avoid losing it?
I'd be really grateful for any help, please!
