In my singel player mindcrack world i have mysteriously lost a chest full of ores and a barrel with wood. Do anyone know why, or how this could have happened? Ps. The chest i had over a powered furnace, and the barrel over some dirt.

I had something similar happen to me when I was using my modified mindcrack pack. It was a cluster of 5 barrels that were just suddenly weren't there. I checked carefully and spotted the collision boxes were still there. I could still put stuff in and get stuff out.
Is that the same for you, or are they properly gone?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Vanilla Minecraft block ID's can change.
Not normally, no. I have had blocks, vanilla and mod, randomly swap before. Normally if I've had a crash of some sort, or if I've been forced to use MCEdit to delete a bugged block so I can get back into my save.
Plus, it hasn't been determined yet whether we are talking vanilla chest and leaf blocks. The modpacks add several of those type of blocks themselves.
