Ever since the update things have been weird. There's another type of copper ore, no big deal.

Did the ore generation get really messed with?

I can't find ferrous ore at all. I used to find them around y level 38ish. I can't find them at all. I'm going start looking else where but was this changed our is it just very very very scarce?
 
Also I've noticed that waila no longer shows the rf storage of blocks.

I have more ferrous than any other metal at the moment. You could just be really unlucky. But I was also farther down in the y levels.
 
I'll try a go at lower levels and see. I have a good hammer now so mining well start going quicker
