Direwolf20 Pack - Installing Additional Mods

I've installed Optifine without any issue, but I've decided to try installing the MineLittlePony mod. I've tried putting the archive file in the mods folder and installing the files into the minecraft.jar directly. In both cases, the game launches and runs fine, it's just nothing changes, it's as though the mod isn't installed at all.
Anyone else tried this and able to offer any help?

Yeah, I tried that too with the same result. It all launches fine, but the game itself doesn't change
