I've been playing the Direwolf20 1.6.4 Pack and I can't seem to get 60 fps, I've been. I have been getting 30 fps and lower and that is very odd. I should got over 60 fps because of the hardware I have in my laptop.

My Laptop is the Asus G750JZ sporting Windows 8 Professional.

CPU: Quad-Core Intel Core i7 (4th Gen) 4700HQ / 2.4 GH
Ram: 24 Gb DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M - 4 GB GDDR5
Hard Drive: 1TB Hard Drive, plus 256 SSD

If you can help that would be great. Again I get about 28 - 33 fps on average and with these specs I should be getting a lot more. So any sugestions to get the fps up to around 60 fps would be great.

*I do not have any shades or resource packs on*

How much RAM do you have dedicated? Are you using any JVM arguments? Is that the only GPU you have, or is there an integrated chip as well? What launcher are you using?

I had a similar problem, but forcing my laptop to use my dedicated chip instead of the integrated quickly took me from 30 FPS to 180 FPS.

I have 4gb of ram dedicated to the FTB Launcher for minecraft. I am not using a JVM argument and for the Graphic Card I have and Intel HD Graphics 4600 on board aswell.

How would a switch over to the Nividia Geforce GTX 880M?

Please and thank you.

I had to go into the NVidia control panel (right click on desktop, it was one of the drop downs for me), and then change the global setting to "High Performance Card". It will require a restart to take effect, and will no longer cycle between whichever card is best for the program you're running.

one of the hugest differences I've made with my laptop was simply putting it on top of a heat disbursing fan mount. The laptop would just overheat. I now get about 40-50 with far dis, and with jaded's 64 bit texturepack. but yeah, back off the ram limit to about 2-3.
