Was very excited to finally see Direwolf's pack coming up, as I'd been using ATLauncher with the Resonant Rise pack and I was a little tired of their launcher's failures.

Anyways, what happens is that when I'm launching the DireWolf20 1.6.4 pack (version 1.0.2 at the moment), I'm able to browse in the menu no problem, no slowdowns, it's all good. However, when I've created and loaded a Single Player world, I'm only able to play for a few minutes - after that, I start freezing up. It's gradual, but fast - it takes 1-2 seconds to open the "bonus chest", and then it takes a few more seconds to open my own inventory and craft a couple of planks and a crafting bench. By the time I have the crafting bench on the floor and try to open its interface, the game has slowed down to a crawl, is unusable, and I have to force quit (by stopping javaw.exe or hitting the X and clicking Stop Program).

Once it's frozen, javaw.exe uses about 13% CPU (well, 13% of one of my 8 cores, actually), 1.5GB of memory. For some odd reason there's a second "window" that appears in the taskbar once in a while but it's only in the taskbar and for a few moments so I don't know what that screen is about.

Few important info:
  • Since it doesn't crash or show an error, the only thing I have to go by is a single error (see MincraftLog.txt here: http://pastebin.com/Uynt03gw ). The error is "[ATTENTION] [Minecraft-Client] Memory connection overburdened; after processing 2500 packets, we still have 6770 to go!" and that goes down until "357 to go", intertwined with a couple of "Can't keep up!" messages.
  • I have the latest version of Java: 7 update 45 (64 Bits)
  • I have 8GB of memory, I've tried changing the setting between 3 and 6GB, with no difference in behavior.
  • This is specifically a DW20 pack problem; I have no issue whatsoever with the Horizons pack, and I never experienced anything like this while playing Resonant Rise either.
  • Changing graphics (removing smooth lighting, reducing particles, changing to Fast graphics, etc) doesn't change anything.
  • I have tried the pack on another computer and I was able to play, so it seems specific to this computer, but it's not for lack of power: this is an Intel Core i7-2600 CPU (dual quad-core 3.4GHz), with an AMD Radeon HD 6350 graphics card (granted, it's 'only' 512 MB of RAM on the card...).
  • The computer that worked had the same processor but the graphics card was an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti, and it has Windows 8.1 x64 (instead of Windows 7 x64 on this machine).
So I'm at a bit of a loss, and sad that I can't play this pack right now. I'd love to have any input.
