Direwolf modpack, strange sounds?

So I was playing the Direwolf20 modpack and mining in a deep underground cavern, suddenly I heard loud footsteps and the sounds of mining and picking up blocks. I looked everywhere for the source and found nothing, I searched for 5-10 minutes and then heard the sound of someone banging on an anvil and after that all the sounds stopped.

I play completely alone.. any ideas on what was making all of that noise?

There are these little guys that are in the mines from Thaumcraft they collect things so that may be it.

Sounds like Herobrine is building a base nearby. Better keep an eye out.

They are called Pech's. Could have been the thing you heard as they are quite loud and pick up items (not blocks, just items on the ground)
