Specs: i5 3570k (3.40 ghz [quad core] )
8 GB of ram,
AMD Radeon HD 5670 (512 MB memory)
125 GB SSD
Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 (64 bit)

So, That summarizes it in a nutshell .I'm having issues with the game, my FPS seems to be sitting at 80-90, I'm using Java x64, 7u51. As I've troubleshooted most of what I could find before posting. Every 2 seconds I experience a brief 'spike', where the game utterly just stops. The spike lasts for 0.3 of a second, so it is very brief.

The spike does not effect the FPS counter whats so ever. I'm sitting at 80-77FPS, and I've given 2.5 GB of memory, and upto 5 GB of memory on some occasions. With no resolution. I can't explain the issue, so I went back to run one of my other modpacks I play on, no problems there. I have no modified the modpack. And I was given the modpack from a friend. Who claims to have no problems.

The game is playable, but it would eventually grind upon my nerves, and I'd rather not deal with that. Thanks. If anybody has any ideas, thanks. Because I ran out of answers awhile ago. I may consider deleting all the libraries and force the launcher to redownload. I was experiencing network problems during my first install.

It looks like it suddenly works again. It may have to do with the rendering of terrain generaiton which is strange- or me cache'ing loading stuff around me. Which is also strange. I can't really explain it. But I let it sit for about 30 minutes it was still not okay, but when it hit somewhere around 45-55 minutes boom it works again. No more lag.. I haven't really narrowed it down yet, so it still remains a concern.

I have a similar system to your own same cpu running at 4.4ghz, 8gb ram but with a radeon 1gb 6850. It is rock solid but I do get fps drops only really when generating new terrain.
