direwolf 1.6.4 save issue

Whats the bug? for some reason while playing on a fairly fresh world i paused the game and went away for a bit and came back to find the game had closed. I reloaded the mod pack and went to load the save BUT the save wasn't there. i checked the mod folder and found the save is still there tried copying the save and pasting it in but nothing, tried deleting the full 1.6.4 file and reinstalling it and pasted in the save but still it wont show. copied it to a diffrent mod but wont show

Is there a simple fix to this in the save file or is the full save file done?

Same thing just happened to me . played about 2 minutes on existing world after updating to latest recommended version, then game crashed and my world is missing in-game. The folder and files are still present in directory, and creating a new world saves to the correct directory.

Edit:
Found this solution in another thread and it worked for me:

1.Make a new world
2.Enter the world and leave
3.Go to your saves folder of that particular pack
4.Copy your level.dat FROM the new world TO the old world and replace it.
5.Delete the new world.
6.Enter the old one and go to Cheat Mode on NEI and give your items back.
