Digital Chests are still confusing.

So a friend and I are working on a new sorting system for a project we've been working on, we ended up building 80 digital chests, and the pipe systems in this modpack aren't exactly new to us, but we've found that pneumatic tubes don't interact with digital chests at all. Leaving us with Buildcraft pipes, which would be annoying, but not exactly a problem, except for the fact that these are all in a wall, with no spaces, so our only solution is to have a massive amount of sorting machines and cobblestone/stone pipes alternating to keep them from intersecting and piping items where we don't want them, does anyone have a solution to this?

Switch to DSUs.
Much less expensive.
(DSU = Deep Storage Unit)

If there's a way to use Digital Chests for this we would like to know, seeing as how we just spent 5 hours making 80 of them. Is there any form of input into these chests without using buildcraft pipes? I would also like to point out that this is the Mindcrack pack we're playing on, and I cannot find DSU's in NEI.

Ahh.
Well, Gregtech wiki says it accepts any form of automation?
Try routing the stuff in the top.
Or use a transposer on top of the Chest.

They only interact with buildcraft pipes, which suck for any kind of sorting system, we've tried pneumatic tubes, which are the better option, and the chest just won't connect to them, which is where we find the problem.

Put a transposer on top of the chest?
Or use a router.
I'm pretty sure Redpower interacts with Routers, so just place one of each item in a chest and hook up a router.

To be fair, Greg did explicitly say that digital chests are for people who don't have factorization installed. You can also configure how many items can be stored in a digital chest.

You don't have any recourse. Sorry. You might try using turtles and chests as a bridge for your pipes. May I suggest testing things in test worlds before using huge sums of resources?

This here is one of the huge reasons I use test worlds before making large builds.

I'm sorry you got stuck with all those chests.

He also requires a monitor in the recipe while having no display of the item inside on said monitor. So I dont care what that crazy says.
