this pack has a lot of mods I have not used before, what mod adds the top right GUI and what is it for?

Look there for Skill and Resource Guide, that should explain those icons. You can also use C (or any other key after remapping as it seems to be conflicting with translocators first) to show up the skill icons.

not showing up

It is showing up for me on the FTB launcher but you need to have the newest version. It does not show up on curse though but I hope this will be fixed soon as I would like to add some mods to it like storage drawers and some backpack (and maybe RWG should I start a new world). And that part is easier with curse.

this modpack by default has a conflict and pressing 'C' places the crafting grid on a square. so you have to remap in order to show it, i have started a discussion for new players to this modpack here.
