Defending Base Without MFFS

I play on a modified pack server that does not have MFFS.

It is 1.5.2 so it does not have redpower but I can use MFR rednet with computercraft.

I've been using many many Iron Golems from TC3 and Ender Bees under the floor but I want something that I have more control over. I have a friend that plays with me and the Iron Golems get kind of annoying as I have to remove them everytime he comes to my base.

Any ideas?

A bunch of track going around your base, forming a minecart force field. Add some detectors somewhere hooked up to some dispensers with fire charges in them, and you have a self-emptying force field that'll automatically pick up mobs, kill them, and let players through.

Alternatively you could use a Steve's Carts' turret cart that only fires at hostile mobs.

You could also use IC2 tesla coils. They have a range of 4 in every direction (covering an area of 9x9x9 total) and need a solid supply of 128EU/t but man, the damage the do... :)

Hmm that could work. I wanted to kill mainly players who snoop around though, not mobs.

Tesla coils work quite well on players :p Plug one in and activate it. Test it out for yourself, you shouldn't be dissapointed :p
