When I die, my items are not scattered. Instead there is this beacon where I died. Can I interact with it somehow to get my stuff back, like the gravestones of days past? Or is it gone forever and the mod pack decided to point and laugh at my suffering. This is really annoying since every time the pack crashes while I'm branch mining and I have to restart, I end up suffocating in a wall and dying somehow.

They're probably in a gravestone underneath the beacon in the exact spot u died. Just break the gravestone and your items will pop out.
