I was wondering if anyone knew/knows how to put pictures into books in Minecraft. The book that I'm thinking of in particular as an example are the TiCo books. I was just wondering if there was an easy (relatively) way to put an image into a book (Written Book, made from Book/Quill).

I did a Google search and I am guessing that I'll need an NBT editor....though from what I saw it looks like those only edits text/allows more than 256 characters on a page/colors/formatting. Didn't see anything about putting pictures in.

Anybody know anything/can point me in the right direction?

It might not be possible. The books in tinkers constructs, probally aren't really books at all, but an item which the mod maker coded them selves and used a book texture.

Just a thought, if you use the NBT editor on a Tinkers Construct book, you might be able to do what you wanted

Use maps? Those used to be the "Books" we had before we had these fancy tools. In all seriousness, not sure myself if such a thing is possible, since most "books" that add both words and images are fancy items with special GUIs shaped like books.

And yes, NBT editing is your friend for most fancy things like that. Colors we can't do ourselves yet, that end portal "he can't understand that" "I DON'T CARE!" stuff I always want to put in my books to show that something is wrong with my character.
