Curse loading screen crash - FTB Departed Modpack

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title:
Curse loading screen crash - FTB Departed Modpack
Launcher Version:
Modpack:
FTB Departed
Modpack Version:
1.4.0
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
(This is my first post on this website, so please point out any errors or missing information etc.)

I installed the mod via Curse Launcher, but when i try to play the mod, it crashes while loading the mods.

I have supplied a log which appears in the minecraft launcher after the crash.

I was unable to supply launcher information, as i believe that is for the FTB launcher?

I read through the log, but am unable to properly assess the issue.
I think i have an idea of what the issue is? Is it my GPU being too old and not supporting a specific mod? If so, how do i single out this specific mod?
(I have tried one or two other FTB Mod packs, and some of the lighter ones seem to work).

Would really help if someone could enlighten me on this issue,
Thanks,

The immediate thing I noticed from your log is that you are running 32-bit Windows 7 and 32-bit Java. This means that you may not have enough ram available for larger mod packs... As you noted, the lighter packs seem to work.

32-bit Windows only can use a total of 3GB by default (4GB with some advanced tweaking) and reserves 1GB for itself, and also up to 512MB for "Integrated Graphics" if this is a laptop. Many of the larger 1.7.10 packs need more ram than this, and the problem continues with Modded ver. 1.8.x and 1.9.x Minecraft.

If you have 64-bit hardware, I'd suggest upgrading to a 64-bit version of Windows, since it doesn't suffer the memory limitations imposed by 32-bit hardware.

Some extra information: FTB launcher is coded to have 1 GB max memory with RAM maximum slider when running 32-bit system/JVM. Usually it is safe to manually to increase memory allocation to -Xmx1500M. Using bigger numbers with -Zmx will make JVM crash sooner or later. Sadly 1500 MB is not enough for most of the current large packs.

tldr: update you OS to 64-bit if possible and if you machine have enough memory.

Thanks for the reply, I will probably revert back to 64-bit sooner or later, :)
