Hello FTB Forums, CrisstheNightbringer here bringing you his latest project! Crisstek Industries!

The purpose of the build is to create the largest cyberpunk city in Minecraft. I am sure there are, and always will be cities larger than mine. However, my aim is to create a city stylized in a way you've never seen before. The present day meets the future in my city.

Here is my personal Corporate Headquarters. More or less in the center of the city.

Here is a separate building, a mega tower. Designed to house, feed, and contain an entire population inside. As you can see construction has only just begun here.

This project started ages ago but due to limitations I was not able to post the videos to my YouTube channel often enough. Now that I am past that problem, I can post updates once a week.

The entire city will be Timelapsed! That's right, you'll be able to sit back and watch as I build and show off the city. A link to my channel will be provided so that you can watch it all.
http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYT8kh2NL7E1id4nZ-JoHJw

The timelapse series will feature contests! This is something I have never done before but I figured it would be a nice way for rewarding my viewers. Over the course of the city construction I will introduce contests. These contests will involve your participation in the creation of the city and the content. Will you create the next mega corp to invade this dystopian city. Will you help inspire the next major build? Who knows, subscribe and get involved!

Updates posted often! I will try to produce a timelapse video once a week. I'm currently capable of doing it and I want to. This page will be updated with new imagery and a video to accompany each timelapse build that I do.

The city will be posted for download periodically! Not only will you be able to watch me explore the city, but you can too! The map will be released with instructions on which mods to add to the FTB Monster pack (only 2). I have included my own mods in my pack, so it will require some work on your end to read the instructions and get it working properly.

I am not aiming for realism, I am aiming for interesting. The map is flat, and the roads might be plain. What I am trying to do is make something crazy. The roads were never the focal point, the buildings are. Have you seen anyone make a cyberpunk megatower? You will once you've seen my map. That being said, the roads light up, who else has done that?

In regards to the realism... I figure I should mention, that because I am playing on a FTB pack, things like electricity are a possibility. The city will indeed draw power. There will be infrastructure; sewers, power grids, utilities and facilities, I will build anything I can think of.

This is only the beginning... The city is only the first stage to this grand scheme. *Maniacal Laughing* Once the city is finished we will delve into the ground and establish the Ultimate Research Facility...

If you read this far, I would like to thank you for giving this post your attention. I would love to hear any feedback and criticisms of the build. Have ideas? let me know! Anything to help make this build better is greatly appreciated.

Nice looking buildings.

Not particularly a fan on the approach of the landscape though. Would have looked a lot better if settled in a real dynamic landscape.
I wanted to give my self maximum building room without extending below the water height. The edges of the landscape will be cleaned up later. Obviously that isn't the entire city pictured there.

Meant building the entire thing on a super flat surface more.

And lowering and manually rebuilding the landscape out in 10+ chunks from the edge of the city is a massive task.

I dont want to stunt myself. I made a compromise to build flat in exchange for not having to deal with awkward terrain. Granted I wont be carving away the obvious mountains and things. I would love to have varied terrain. Id love to have varied road networks and something more complex in that regard. I'm not sure I'm up to that task. I want to focus on buildings more than a road layout. Sure it might pay off in the end. A good looking highway running through the city would be amazing if i pulled it off. I can use MC edit to move things around if need be. In the future I might be able to put the city into a varied landscape but that will take time.

I don't mean just roads. Designing the buildings around the "natural" terrain too usually give a better aesthetic feel IMO.

You could make the argument that a natural terrain would be anathema to the cyberpunk theme. Depending on the sub-genre, one could expect a very sterilized and "prepared" building area for a newer city.

If you're using World Edit You're probably aware of most terraforming tools. the overlay will be useful. If not you can still use thaumcraft's equal trade focus.

I've used world edit before. Not sure how I would use that on the pack. I got the world edit wand that comes with reactorcraft mod i believe. Useful for clearing areas or making walls, etc. I also use MC Edit for things like copying or moving builds. A lot of the city will be copied and pasted. I don't have the time to design thousands of buildings. But that will be in the far future when I have a lot of those buildings created.

I wouldn't mind having things like highways or canals. I Also don't think it would be entirely impossible to build the city on varied terrain but it wouldn't be natural. It would more likely be concrete walls and platforms that covered up the ground like in judge dredd.

Yeah, that only thing about this build that bothers me other than that its awesome. Flattening out terrain is something that I am very guilty of and am trying to break the habit. Ive been looking at a lot of minecraft builds for ideas and one way people make cities in hilly terrain is not to flatten the ground level but instead sharpen up the edges of the hills and build a support wall where you can put stairs and such without it looking like some quaint medieval village.

That's probably the approach I will go for later. I figure the areas featuring the tallest builds need to be flat. Areas that have shorter buildings can use varied terrain.

I really didn't mind the whole 'plain terrain' problem, considering, if you think about it, modern cities are built like that - as plain as possible, for easy access to building and whatnots.

Now, the buildings itself look incredible, the details are put together very well and the whole concept around them is utterly interresting. Nice work, @CrisstheNightbringer! :p

I'm really looking forward to the world download. :)
Yes I plan on releasing them after major sections of the city are finished. The only issue is you will need to install a few additional mods to the FTB monster pack. If I can I will try and release versions that do not require these mods. I believe there are no more than 3 currently.

Thanks! As the city progresses there will be separate types of districts so to speak. One for big corporate offices or another for luxury life and casinos. The areas featuring smaller buildings will be more incorporated into the terrain. The buildings that I have posted so far need all the space above ocean height limits. The districts will be separated by walls. Even the walls will have different looks based on what district they enclose.
