Crash to desktop on server

Details of the issue:
I am trying to host a server for me and a friend to mess around on, i cant use the .bat to launch the server with more ram (which i think may be the possible fix) because it tells me it couldn't find jarfile FTBServer-1.7.10-1448 so, i launch from the executable directly, all works fine, we connect to the server run around punch chickens in the face, but as soon as we try to punch a tree (or any block for that matter) the client just crashes straight to desktop , the server log window SOMETIMES shows the error "couldn't keep up, did system time change or was there an overload" when we disconnect but i believe thats not related to the issue as it doesn't happen every time, other than that the server itself doesn't report any errors or warnings

-edit ive now discovered it also crashes to desktop when i open inventory and creepers are able to blow up blocks without causing a crash​
