Details of the issue I had to do a upgrade-in-place install of windows after some issues with the recent big update and now all of a sudden I cant get past the loading screen in either skyfactory3 or DW20. Reboots and reinstalls have no effect. Video drivers (nvidia) are current. The logs show some model loading errors, but there are no errors at the bottom of the log where it crashes. I do get a java error in hs_err_pid16332.log in the root though:

I tried going back to a previous nvidia driver, no luck.

Installing latest java also had no effect, not that I expected it to since the native launcher doesnt use the system java installation.

Open settings / minecraft on the twich launcher and change from native to jar launcher to go with the installed java version in the OS

I found the solution on the rockstar forums of all places. Turns out riva tuner statistics server, a background utility I use, doesnt play well with the new windows update.
