Coverting a server from 1.5.x to 1.6

Does anyone know if moving a world from 1.5.2 to 1.6 will be possible? I haven't been able to find anything on the forums concerning it. Assuming it is possible, is it possible to regenerate the map for the new world gen without destroying any work I may have already completed on the map?

Yes, but it would take so long to do so. (By that I mean the ids would change and converting the ids would take a long ass time) And you will also lose ALL your liquids in tanks.
