I can load into single player just fine, but when I connect to a multiplayer game, it crashes each time. I've updated java, changed the install location of the pack, and other things. Still can't connect to any server without the client crashing.

Many people do not open attachments (it's a huge security risk for us)
Also, can you please provide a paste of your client side console log (on debug mode) to pastebin.com. This will help us ensure that your launcher is initializing correctly.

One of my players also has this problem when connecting to our server

His log is here:
http://pastebin.com/vWA9fZFe

Notes:
  • Ultimate 1.0.1
  • He updated to the latest java 7 64 bit
  • he fully deleted FTB (including the files in appdata) and reinstalled from scratch to see if it would fix it
  • no crash log is created for the client
  • the server admin (me) tried to delete his player.dat file, but that didnt change anything
  • he logs in, server throws a bunch of errors in its console, then his gets a black screen and has to force quit his client
  • admin also tried to delete portal files from the world save folders in case his portals were causing errors, to no avail
Here's the error the server throws up:

That console log shows he's using Java 6.

Oh my you are right, I am so gonna poke him to death. I will have him update properly and update the results here afterward.

Edit:

Thank you a thousand times for pointing that java 6 was used, I had overlooked to double check. It was indeed the culprit. Deleting java 6 from his system fixed his problem and he can now login correctly.
