I've started running an FTB Server on my home machine so that I could both leave my quarries running while logged out, and be able to check in on things when I'm out and about and have moment.

There isn't necessarily "lag" per say. Chests open when I ask them to, blocks drop within a reasonable time window after breaking. But all my machines, especially the quarry, seem to only move in spurts. They accomplish everything within the same amount of time, but watching it happen is like pressing pause then skipping forward two seconds, every two second. Even on the same machine pointed at 127.0.0.1

I run an i7 hexacore with 32GB of ram. I've dedicated extra ram to the server via the batch file. I haven't tried a ramdisk yet but I'm kind of surprised I would need to.

Edit: I just found the server subforum. Sorry for posting in general, feel free to move. >.<

Now first off, would you say this is more of a chop suey kinda chop or a karate kinda chop.

RAMDISK is supposed to help a lot in SMP, but I think it's more of an interaction with other players kinda of thing (load speeds). Things moving in spurts suggest that there is some sort of back-up/lag. It might be that your server isn't updating at the speed that the game is meant to go at. This is by no means a solution, nor do I have any experience with this kind of stuff. I hope that this thought might help you along you way to finding a solution though. (It might be a bandwidth problem?...)
