2) Would I be correct in theorizing that you could join two ME networks together using P2P tunnels connected to each other (for example: cable - tunnel - tunnel - cable)? If so, I could imagine that if there was a central ME network, you could connect multiple "subnets" that handle specific purposes.
Case:
You have a large ME network throughout your base.
You have a separate subnetwork handling items you do not want mixed with the main network(I have one handling IC2 uranium fuel refinement for example, don't want radioactive items in the main network :p).
Lets say that you now have two places far from each other in your base that you want to use this subnetwork, but you don't want to run a subnetwork cable ALL the way there. By using the P2P tunnel you can tunnel the subnetwork through the main ME network that already have cables running throughout all of your base.

That part I do already understand. However, I was more theorizing on an attempt to subnet a large network, with various networks handling groups of machines or devices, interconnected by a central network.

As far as I understand, that is exactly what people do to exploit the P2P tunnel to save channels.

Well, if you require more channels to get everything connected than is available on the network, I can understand why. But one more thought. In the wiki, it says a maximum of 32 channels per side of the controller. Now, is that an absolute, no matter how many blocks comprise the controller, or is that per each side of each controller block making the entire controller? I was never entirely sure, and I haven't yet created anything elaborate enough to consume so many channels.

32 per side, per block. So a one block controller has 192. A two block has 320 and so on.

Mostly you have the option of run a p2p to the local network and place down an interface, and pull out of it with an import bus and push back in with an export bus. Or you run it there, and connect from the main AE net to the subnet with a storage bus onto an interface. That way they can communicate or interact without sharing channels.
