I use FTB Inventions mod pack and I have had couple times now fatal error after trying to connect copper cable to machine. I tested where I place it while looking to non machine block while machine is higher then that block but still next to it. It connects and doesn't cause crash. So if you look to cable or machine while placing it game crashes. It could be also micro block that is in same block where you are putting cable.
