Confusing nether chunkloading situation

I am pumping lava from the nether back to the overworld using an ender tank, and generating power there. At the pumping station there's a chunkloader from Chicken Chunks, but the pumping station is unloading anyway, in as few as 10 minutes after I leave the nether. What can I do to keep the station active all the time?

Are you playing on a server or single player? Also check that the chunkloader is not receiving a redstone signal.

I think I may have my answer: The chunk boundary went right through the middle of the room, though it was tiny. The pump was in one chunk and the ender tank in another. I expanded the chunkloader to radius 2 and it seems to be fixed.

I'm single player. What difference would that make?

It used to mean a lot, now I don't think it matters that much
