Hey all,

A few years a go I used to play FTB Ultimate a lot which contained IndustrialCraft. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) GregTech was on top of that and made creating machines quite complicated and grindy. I truly loved this and would love to get back in to a complex FTB modpack.

I can't seem to find any pack that contains GregTech. Has it finished? Is there a pack that replaces this for 1.12.2?
If it has gone the way of the dodo, I'm looking for a complex tech modpack ideally. Can anyone recommend one? I'm not sure what a lot of these mods do anymore.

I prefer grindy, takes along time to build machines mods if possible? and not even stopping at tech, I'd like to get into bees as well and anything else.
Again, I like grind, it keeps me interested. Being able to build something and have it working in 10 minutes doesn't interest me.

Thanks all in advance,

Ironically, a "Gregtech Community Edition" was put into alpha status today. While it won't have all the features, and it won't be (at all) stable, I can at least say that we can look forward to GT 1.12 of some sort in the near future.

Awesome, getting that installed as I write this. Looking at the overview, it looks like just what I wanted.
Btw, this might be a really stupid question but what's the difference between an FTB modpack and a mod? I'm assuming the mod pack is just a collection of mods, and so using that theory I could add in further mods on top of Infitech 2?

That's really good to hear!

Yeah, a modpack (FTB or otherwise) is just a collection of mods. A well-made modpack (like infitech) is one where many tweaks (eg recipe changes, oregen) are made to the installed mods so that they integrate well together and also gate some of the more end-game toys.

With that in mind, be careful to check recipes - some changes can bite you hard on the butt!

There are no stupid questions. And if you're planning to play IT2 I hope you're in the mood to ask lots of them :)

A modpack (FTB or otherwise) is a collection of mods. And yes you can definitely add mods to Infitech2 just be aware of any balance implications you might be incurring.
